In 2012,  INTERPOL and Safran Identity & Security (formerly Morpho) entered into a strategic partnership agreement focusing on biometrics. As part of the partnership, Safran provided INTERPOL with an automated facial recognition system which could be used for matching wanted or missing persons.

INTERPOL's selection of Safran as exclusive supplier is based on the technical and functional performance of the system, and reflects the maturity of facial recognition as a key biometric solution for identifying individuals and resolving inquiries. It also ranks Safran Identity & Security among the best in the field.

“ INTERPOL's choice is a clear vote of confidence in the performance of our facial recognition system in terms of accuracy and ergonomics. Its ease of use increases experts' productivity: a key point for our customers. As a well-established leader in the field of fingerprints, we are now consolidating our position in the facial recognition sphere, which is a real strategic growth area for us," said Samuel Fringant, Executive VP, Security Division at Safran Identity & Security.

The system rolled out by Safran Identity & Security is now available to INTERPOL's 190 member countries.
