Lantech industrial switches adopted for Lærdal Tunnel

Project Introduction
Lærdal Tunnel is a 24.51 km (15.23 mi) long road tunnel of European route E16 and located approximately 175~200 km (109–124 mi) north-east of Bergen, the second-largest city in Norway. The E16 is the main road between Norway's two largest cities Oslo and Bergen, which makes Lærdal Tunnel one of the most important tunnels in Norway. The tunnel was opened in 2000 and it is still the longest road tunnel in the world currently.

Western Norway is one of the wettest regions in Europe. It has milder winter than other parts of Norway, with rain being more common than snow in the winter. Lærdal Tunnel, which was opened in 2000, plans to upgrade its emergency system including VoIP telephones, cameras and signs. 150 pieces of Lantech industrial PoE managed switch IPES-3408GSFP are adopted for this project, connecting the devices mentioned above. The safety issue is always the top priority for long tunnels. Lantech switches help to build up this complete redundant network to ensure the fast and reliable data transmission for world’s longest road tunnel.
