Optex explains how laser technology innovates intrusion detection

The REDSCAN is the innovative laser scan detector, provided by Optex. In secutech 2016, the company also introduced its latest series, RLS-20201, for indoor application.
In the museums, it can be used to protect the valuable exhibit and immediately send out alerts whenever someone approaches it. It identifies the size, speed, and distance of a moving object and creates a wide-range virtual wall, when it is mounted vertically or horizontally. Yoshi Hamamoto, Team Leader of Sales & Marketing Section of Sensing System Innovation Business Division, explained that the laser technology works perfectly to detect the small action of an intruder, and also a group of people, with one single detector in a wide area.
Compared to using other detectors or video cameras, it can save a lot of costs on wiring and the total amount of security devices. In addition, in a data center, when using other sensing technologies, the detector’s accuracy will be much lower because of the heat from the servers. The laser technology, instead, is not affected by any temperature changes, so it can avoid many false alarms and accuracy is much higher.
