The Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of international companies deploying Z-Wave, an ecosystem for wireless control products and services, announces the arrival of the 1,000th Z-Wave product. The landmark number was achieved by Linear Corporation for the company's innovative GD00Z Z-Wave garage door controller.

With 1,000 interoperable, brand-agnostic products now on the market, Z-Wave's control and automation products have been widely adopted. In addition to Linear, Z-wave wireless control powers North American market giants namely Ingersoll Rand, Evolve and Jasco/GE. along with other companies such as AT&T, Verizon, Lowes and Staples.Z-Wave is found many residential alarm panels that offer home control including panels from ADT, Vivint, Honeywell and 2GIG by Linear. In all, more than 250 international manufacturers and service providers comprise the Z-Wave Alliance membership, all dedicated to Z-Wave wireless control.

"The Z-Wave Alliance congratulates Linear for setting this market milestone, and for introducing such an innovative product," says Z-Wave Alliance Chairman Mark Walters. "The garage is a pivotal access point for residential applications. Empowering consumers to command smart Z-Wave devices and scenes through the house automatically by entering or exiting the garage makes perfect sense for both end users and integrators. We know this product will be a winner for Linear, and that intelligent garage controls will spur growth for both Z-Wave and smart home controls in general."

"Linear is excited to bring to market the 1,000th Z-Wave product, especially 1 as game-changing as the GD00Z," adds Avi Rosenthal, VP Security and Control. "Convenience is a major attraction of the smart home value proposition, and there's no more convenient way to activate scenes than by simply entering or exiting the garage, pressing the same easy button that we already do every day. We think that homeowners will love the convenience, and that integrators can now offer dramatic smart home benefits with virtually no user learning curve."

The Linear GD00Z Garage Door Controller is compatible with virtually any automatic garage door opener connected to a sectional garage door. Installers only need to pair the unit to a Z-Wave gateway, mount the unit, connect 2 wires and plug it in. The garage door is then remotely controllable through any Z-Wave certified gateway or security panel. Providing both audible and visual warnings prior to door movement, the GD00Z meets UL 325-2010 safety requirements. The Z-Wave Garage Door Controller integrates with other Linear Z-Wave enabled products, and can also act as a wireless repeater to ensure that commands intended for another device in the home's Z-Wave network are received.
