A&S hosted the Industry Perspectives Sharing Event on the 11/27 in Taipei. ALTASEC, A-MTK, AVER, ASONI, DYNACOLOR, ETHERWAN, MESSOA, PROMISE, PIXORD, QNAP and TDV, 11 local security-related companies were all present at this event. The purposes were to share the current global security market, Chinese manufacturers' current situations and movements as well as to discuss possible solutions for challenges facing future trends.

According to Shi, the future of surveillance market will focus on intelligent surveillance, verticalization and more integration with mobile devices and smart home. The sales revenue of IP cameras are expected to grow continuously.

Looking at the surveillance technical trends, 4K and H.265 are the two hot releases. Bosch has announced the release of 4K products within the first quarter of 2014. H.265's compression is said to be half of H.264 *2Mp 1080@fps, 1MBps). Camera and DVR design solutions will be based on H.265 which is will be released in 2014 at Secutech.

The future of IP surveillance will no longer be primarily specification based but competing in small details. The competition for market share is vigorous between Chinese manufacturers and other manufacturers. Suggestions given to Taiwanese manufacturers include the clear company positioning, emphasizing on product quality and uniqueness, and expanding product lineup by partnering with other specialized makers. Furthermore, John suggests Taiwanese manufacturers need to strengthen service and customization as well as take advantage of inter-corporate relationships to succeed in global security market.
