Intercontinental in Nigeria gets 5-star security treatment

InterContinental Lagos Hotel in Nigeria recently deployed a discreet IP-based video surveillance system consisting of Axis Communications network cameras. Nigerian-based Chrema Technologies was tasked with providing a surveillance solution. The hotel, at 100 meters in height, towers above neighboring buildings and has permanently enhanced the Lagos skyline. Said to be the tallest hospitality property in the whole of West Africa, the hotel seeks to meet the needs of the steadily increasing number of businessmen and women streaming into Nigeria.

The hotel in Nigeria is part of the luxury hotel franchise, InterContinental Hotels, founded in 1946 when Pan American World Airways opened their first hotel in Belem Brazil. Today they enjoy the patronage of thousands of guests at their exclusive hotels and resorts in 60 countries. Strict operating requirements and standards, as set out in the hospitality giant's proprietary operating manual, required the InterContinental Lagos Hotel to install an effective security surveillance system.

Securing of both assets and people has become a major challenge in the highly competitive arena of the hospitality industry. The reliability and flexibility of the Axis surveillance system ensures that the InterContinental Lagos Hotel is able to offer their valued guests a premium service in a controlled and discreetly monitored environment. “A world class establishment such as the InterContinental Lagos Hotel, demands a sophisticated surveillance system that is capable of providing crystal clear images under any type of conditions at any time,” said Richard Ogbuji, Chrema Technologies, Managing Director.

The InterContinental Lagos Hotel installation called for surveillance cameras that are not only versatile and robust but also visually inoffensive. As with any multimillion dollar structure, the monitoring equipment has to be discreet and cannot detract from the grandeur of the building. To provide the most efficient outdoor monitoring, Chrema selected the PTZ dome. The dome with 36x optical zoom and IP66 rating, is the ideal product to deliver precise images even under challenging circumstances.

To provide the most efficient outdoor monitoring, the PTZ dome was also selected by Chrema. Two other camera models deployed by Chrema included the vandal-resistance fixed dome for their flexible mounting capabilities, excellent image quality and vandal-resistance as well as outdoor HD network cameras. The importance of providing optimum security for both hotel guests and employees implies that this installation may be augmented by additional network cameras from time to time.
