Bosch is supplying extensive safety technology for the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Tomsk in the western part of Siberia. A technology park that is to provide up to 7,000 jobs upon completion is currently being developed on two sites totaling 207 hectares. The Russian Federation is offering domestic and international companies attractive conditions to setup businesses in a total of 17 special economic zones, of which four are for high-technology companies.

The first buildings in the Tomsk SEZ were the Center of Engineering with 13,600 square meters, another development center with 15,900 square meters, as well as the customs facilities for both areas. All buildings were equipped with Bosch safety systems. Additional office and development complexes as well as a conference center are under construction and are to be ready for occupancy in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Bosch is supplying the safety technology there as well through its Moscow partner CDB. It will be installed by the local partner Lan-M.

Lan-M installed a central operations and control room for the entire Special Economic Zone in the Center of Engineering Technology. Fire and intrusion detection panels, an access control system and a video surveillance system were installed to protect the building itself. The same technology will also be used in the offset development center as well as in the customs facilities. Central operation of all safety facilities is guaranteed by Bosch's integrated management platform for all security systems.

In order to be able to use customized fire protection equipment in all buildings of SEZ Tomsk in spite of central operation, the planners decided to use networkable fire panel from Bosch. Several of these control units can be configured individually, but operated and managed in the tight network like a single system, even over great distances.

Thanks to the open architecture and multiclient capability of the solution being used, the BIS and the central control room are also available to investors who are erecting their own buildings within Tomsk SEZ. Hence, they can operate their safety systems over the existing safety infrastructure without losing control over their systems. That way they can plan systems that are optimized to their own requirements and simultaneously reduce operating costs considerably.
