Lumidigm and Imprivata announced a partnership to deliver an integrated solution for healthcare clinicians that require access to electronic medical record applications when wearing surgical gloves. With Lumidigm's biometric sensors integrated into the Imprivata single sign-on (ESSO) and authentication platform, healthcare providers obtain access to EMR applications with a simple touch of a finger.
Biometrics access has been proven to be the simple and cost-effective way to maintain patient privacy and to manage the distribution of controlled substances as mandated by regulations. Users that are biometrically enrolled in Imprivata's platform will benefit from its central management and reporting capabilities which support secure access to pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and patient data.
“Lumidigm's biometric sensors and ESSO give clinicians access to EMR applications regardless of environmental conditions,” said Ed Gaudet, Chief Marketing Officer at Imprivata. “With support for Lumidigm devices, our customers can leverage their existing investments across clinician workflows that involve surgical gloves.”
“Using Imprivata's solution in tandem with the security and performance of Lumidigm biometric sensors is essential in healthcare applications where security is a must but where security cannot interfere with critical-care technicians, doctors or nurses attending to their jobs,” said Phil Scarfo, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Lumidigm. “ESSO and biometric authentication eliminate clinician frustrations with multiple passwords, two-tier authentication and lost tokens. Imprivata consolidates multiple applications into a single access point and completes a healthcare provider's investment by merging all authentication needs to a single finger.”
