GIGA-TMS, an RFID solutions provider and participant of secutech 2015, showcased a variety of applications that can benefit different industries.

“For RFID, it all has to do with applications,” said Thomas Chen, Sales Representative at GIGA-TMS. “For our company, we currently have LF, HF, and UHF RFID technologies available. We do all the research and development, have control over the technology, and can customize according to different needs.”

LF solutions include a technology that records and validates security guards as they do rounds. HF solutions entail mostly access control. UHF, meanwhile, is being deployed for parking and logistics purposes.

“The reader can detect approaching vehicles early on and can be connected to sensors. It's not on 24 hours a day. Only when the vehicle rolls over the ground sensor will the reader be activated. This is a smart solution that saves energy,” Chen said.

The company also has an RFID solution that tracks products that need to be kept cold, for example foods, vaccines, and orchids. End users and consumers alike can track their products' status during each step of the delivery process.

“For RFID, it's used in different parts of people's everyday life. It's only a matter of whether you can feel it. For typical users, they don't necessarily need to know if RFID is being used. They just want the convenience,” he said.
