Kuwait Finance House (KFH) Malaysia plans to set up more branches in Malaysia this year, its chief operating officer Roger Chin Chew Choy said today.

Currently, the bank has 13 branches and 2 currency exchange outlets located at the LCCT-KLIA and Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur.

Chin said the branch is the 2nd in the state after the outlet in Satok in Kuching.

He said KFH had decided to come to Tanjung Manis as it is poised to be a leading halal hub and aquaculture center not only for Sarawak but for the whole country soon.

Despite it being a new branch, the Tanjung Manis outlet had been able to attract a transaction of RM7 million ($2.1 million), he said.

"We believe Tanjung Manis can be a future major contributor to KFH's bottomline, with the support of the local authorities, corporate bodies and the public," he said.

"Tanjung Manis is located in the state regional development corridor of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).

"Many big projects are being expected and for instance, the government is in the process of implementing a RM150 million ($46 million) water supply project.

"The potential of Tanjung Manis is not only in SCORE. It is going to be a future port city, and also serves other areas such as Matu, Daro, Selalang, Belawai, Rajang and others," he said.
