Telekomunikasi Indonesia, the country's largest telecommunications company, is looking to provide information, communication, and technology services to as many as 1 million small and medium businesses (SMBs) by 2015.
With the number of cell phones now exceeding the country's population, mobile-phone providers like the company known as Telkom are looking for new markets to expand their businesses.
The company, according to Muhammad Awaluddin, Director of enterprise and business services, has established several programs to help SMEs become more innovative, productive and creative.
On Monday, Telkom launched SME Indonesia Bisa, a marketing scheme targeting 100 wholesale markets across the country by the end of 2014.
The company will set up fiber-optic and Wi-Fi connections as well as mobile broadband and provide ICT training skills to SMBs to enable them to market their products.
The company aims to have 1 million SMBs in the IndiPreneur program by the end of 2015, up from 161,991 in 2013.
Telkom has also launched BosToko, an application launched in December 2013 for helping SMBs with their record-keeping online.
