DDV encoders chosen to support L3 Technologies’ air force fleet upgrade
Delta Digital Video announced that it has been selected to deliver multiple Model 6880R Multi-Channel HD/SD Video Encoders in support of the mission and communication-navigation systems upgrade for the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s fleet of P-3 Orion patrol aircraft.
Delta Digital Video (DDV), a division of Delta Information Systems, has announced that it has been selected by L3 Technologies to deliver multiple Model 6880R Multi-Channel HD / SD Video Encoders in support of the mission and communication-navigation systems upgrade for the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s fleet of P-3 Orion patrol aircraft.

The P-3 Orion is a four-engine turboprop aircraft that supports both maritime and land operations. It is in use by numerous navies and air forces around the world, primarily for maritime patrol and surveillance, reconnaissance, anti-surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare.

"Being selected for this important program confirms our commitment to delivering rugged, reliable, and high-performance video encoder solutions for maritime surveillance systems and any manned or unmanned ISR platform,” said George Nelson, Vice President of Delta Digital Video. “Our rugged airborne video encoders consistently deliver an outstanding Full Motion Video capability to our customers in support of their advanced mission requirements.” Nelson further stated, “The use of standalone video encoders, like the Model 6880R, provides excellent performance and functionality in addition to a flexible and cost-effective migration path as video compression technology advances or as more video streams are added.”

Delta Digital Video’s Model 6880R HD/SD Video Encoder is a scalable unit supporting up to 8 SDI or composite inputs, compressing each channel and multiplexing them with metadata and other system information for real-time video transmission and recording applications. Designed for any airborne or ground-mobile application, and specifically military ISR missions, the 6880R is qualified to MIL-STD-810/461/704 and compliant with the full motion video (FMV) standards developed by the US Government’s Motion Imagery Standards Board (MISB) and S TANAG.
