Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in compliance, investigations, and security consulting, is proud to announce the appointment of Robert “Bob” J. McDonough as vice president of Sports and Entertainment in its Washington D.C. office. McDonough will lead design and management for all aspects of security planning, operations, systems design, and operational readiness for new and existing sophisticated facilities, companies, and event operations.

“Bob’s long tenure working in the security industry, coupled with his deep expertise on stadium and sports security issues, advances our ability to deliver industry-leading security solutions for our clients,” stated CEO of Guidepost Solutions, Julie Myers Wood. “His experience, particularly with the ever-increasing need for heightened security infrastructure, event security management, and security preparedness protocols, will be of key value and benefit to a whole host of organizations.”

Commented McDonough: “I am delighted to be joining Guidepost Solutions and to be working with a respected team of experts who have been instrumental in providing security solutions. I especially look forward to contributing to the growth of this accomplished firm and expanding the Sports and Entertainment practice.”

McDonough most recently served as the director of security for the AMB Group, LLC and the Arthur M. Blank Sports Entertainment Group, LLC, where he designed, evaluated, analyzed, implemented, and monitored all security programs to protect Arthur M. Blank’s family of businesses and his personal assets. This included coordinating all security operations for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League, where he was also instrumental in the implementation of the NFL’s security best practices.”

Prior to his role at AMB Group, LLC, McDonough operated as the first director of security in the United States for Bayer Corporation. He authored and implemented its first security policy and procedures program and was responsible for the physical security of the 86-acre corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as its 59 operational sites and 22,000 associates.

For 24 years, McDonough served as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service, where he coordinated daily operational issues with federal agencies, the Presidential Cabinet and members of the three branches of government. Most notably, he served five U.S. Presidents as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protective Division, and was responsible for the executive management and leadership of the Division, along with the safety of the President, the First Family, the White House complex, and related facilities.

McDonough received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton and is a nationally recognized physical security systems assessment, safety and design specialist with a 43-year career in the security industry.
