Electronic security drives into motor inn

Approximately 2 hours drive from the Canberra area, the 4 Star Young Federation Motor Inn lies in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia. It provides a comfortable place to stay while exploring the wineries, orchards, and historic sites of this former gold mining town.

Each of the Inn’s 30 luxuriously appointed suites and 20 new build apartments offers elegance and comfort. All rooms feature queen sized beds, mini bar, beverage facilities and satellite television while for entertainment, the adjoining Young Services Club provides a cafe, bistro, restaurant, bars and sporting facilities.

Janene and Steve McIllhatton, Managers of the Young Federation Motor Inn are always keen to improve their hospitality experience while ensuring that guests and their belongings are secure at all times.

The 30 suites at the motor inn were previously using a mechanical key system which required locks to be sent back to local locksmiths, Steve Burton Security Supplies, for rekeying each time room keys were lost, or not returned by a guest. Finally the cost and inconvenience of doing this meant the issue had to be addressed.

Nick Burton, Managing Director of Steve Burton Security Supplies said, “It’s never an ideal situation when guest room keys are taken away from a hospitality property so we needed to come up with a solution that both eliminated the need for a key and was more secure than an average lock.

We were already looking at different types of electronic locks to be installed on the new build apartments and widened this to include upgrading the existing suites. We recommend SALTO for the job as we believe it to be a superior electronic access control solution.

After demonstrating the range of SALTO escutcheons, along with the SALTO Energy Saving Device (ESD) Janene and Steve chose to go ahead with having SALTO Offline Escutcheons and ESD's installed in all 50 rooms. In addition to these, a Salto Online Control Unit and Wall Reader were also fitted to the Maids Store to collect low battery information from the offline locks.

Now, with the installation complete, the Young Federation Motor Inn has a smart access control system it can be proud of and lost key problems are a thing of the past. Plus one of the great benefits of the new system is that with SALTO's JustIN Mobile Guest Key/BLE functionality, reception staff no longer have to leave keys out for guest arriving after hours."

Robert Pai, Business Development Manager, SALTO Systems Australia concluded, “The central objective of a hotel’s security system should be to provide a convenient, comfortable, safe and secure experience for guests throughout their stay. SALTO have thousands of satisfied hospitality clients all over the world and take great pride in delivering new technologies that present exciting advantages to drive business to an hotel, providing customers like the Young Federation Motor Inn with the cutting-edge technology to stand apart from the rest.”
