Messe Frankfurt organizes a total of eleven trade fairs and events for the worldwide safety and security sector. Under the trade-fair brand names, Intersec and Secutech, it offers platforms for the sector in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, South America and Germany. Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Messe Frankfurt: "More than almost any other company, Messe Frankfurt stands for successful trade-fair concepts in future-oriented sectors worldwide. The best example of this is our Safety + Security business unit, which we continuously expand and strengthen. Over the last two years alone, we have launched three new events for the safety and security sector – in Moscow, Nairobi and Frankfurt."

Successful first half year, 2016
The flagship of the portfolio of events is the annual Intersec in Dubai. Launched in 1999, this leading international trade fair holds a firmly established place in the calendar of events for the sector. Against the background of growing demand for security and safety products and systems generated by new infrastructure projects in the Middle East, Intersec 2016 (17 to 19 January) was a great success. 31,939 visitors (+ 17 percent) made their way to Dubai to view the range of products and services offered by the 1,290 exhibitors. 72 companies from Germany, more than ever before, presented their latest innovations at Intersec. They included Grundig, SimonsVoss, G-Data, Doeka, Viking, Haix, Siemens and Bosch. The signs are that the next Intersec, from 22 to 24 January 2017, will continue this process of growth and eight percent more exhibition space in twelve halls – one hall more than this year – is in planning whereby twice as much space is being planned for the particularly fast-growing 'smart home'segment.

Through a strategic partnership with Russia's Groteck trade-fair company, Messe Frankfurt 2014 expanded its commitment on the Russian market and TB Forum powered by Intersec has been held annually in Moscow since 2015. Messe Frankfurt is responsible for the international sales side. From 9 to 11 February, 151 exhibitors presented their latest products for the fields of video surveillance, admission control, perimeter protection, IT security, fire protection and counter terrorism. 8,350 visitors were primarily interested in new products and solutions for IT, the "Safe & Smart City," the oil and gas industry and the transport sector. In the accompanying programme of events, over 200 speakers provided a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in a very broad spectrum of areas relevant to the subject of safety and security. The 22nd edition of TB Forum powered by Intersec will be held from 7 to 9 February 2017.

Messe Frankfurt held the first Intersec Forum in Frankfurt am Main on 14 and 15 March. The two-day conference for networked safety and security technology in the context of smart buildings was rounded off by a wide-ranging programme of lectures, panel discussions and guided tours to suppliers of innovative safety and security technology. Around 150 participants from the fields of planning, installation and operation of buildings and safety and security systems, as well as from the electrical industry, took part in this specialist conference, which was held concurrently with Light + Building, the world's leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology. The Cooperation Partner of Messe Frankfurt is the German Central Association of Electrical and Information Technology Contractors (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. – ZVEI). The second Intersec Forum will be held in 2017, parallel with ISH – The World’s Leading Trade Fair for The Bathroom Experience, Building Services, Energy, Air Conditioning Technology and Renewable Energies – in Frankfurt am Main from 14 to 18 March 2017.

From 19 to 21 April, safety and security experts came together in Taipei for Secutech 2016. Altogether, the 19th edition of this international trade fair and conference attracted 410 exhibitors from 17 countries and more than 24,300 visitors from 85 countries to see a huge range of products and solutions for the fields of electronic safety and security systems, building safety and security, IT security, fire protection and fire fighting. Secutech has developed significantly in recent years, especially in the ‘smart products’ and interdisciplinary overall solutions to safety and security issues. Five pavilions arranged by thematic focal points provided the setting for new products and a series of accompanying conferences. The pavilions were called Intelligent Industrial/Factory, Intelligent Retail, Transportation, Building & Healthcare and Smart Home Expo. The next Secutech takes place from 12 to 14 April 2017. www.secutech.com
