This patent is part of an extensive portfolio under the Intellectual Properties Agreements of the college.
"I've worked with Donald Spector (Chairman of New York College of Health) for years and seen many products of his that seem so simple after the fact, but I have found that their beauty is in their simplicity,” said Michael Balboni, Former Deputy Secretary for Public Safety in New York under two governors and a member of the President's Homeland Security team. “This idea will provide real time assessment of personnel in the field and enable institutions like our military and law enforcement to determine the readiness of their forces.” This crucial advance can enable the immediate assistance of troops in the field and enhance the capability and response of those who are entrusted to protect civilians. Balboni looks forward to working with New York College and its research consortium partners on this and other projects.
New York College has recently signed Memorandums of Understanding to work with New York Medical College/ Touro University System and Wake Forest Innovations on several exciting new technologies. Other partners, both in the public and private sectors are also in discussions for joining this new research group.
"We think this will be quick to market since the biometrics are already available and connecting the telemetry for this into security apps and encrypted networks is not a long-term project,” said Lisa Pamintuan, President of New York College. “It is important to get this product out for the military and private security firms. We also expect other products in Public Safety from this portfolio in the future."
