The Municipality of Junin in the province of Buenos Aires needed a video surveillance system that would allow it to prevent and combat criminal acts. Local systems integrator Conectia Wireless recommended the implementation of a scalable video surveillance system deploying Axis Communications IP cameras. This allows gradual incorporation of the cameras, while allowing the province’s Ministry of Justice and Security to make future expansions. In the first stage, 30 AXIS outdoor PTZ domes were installed, and another 10 cameras were added later.

The solution needed to cover the entire map of crime and at the same time complies with recommendations set out by the ministry. Axis cameras were chosen, due to their previous success in several municipalities and their ability to comply with the recommendations, said Federico Gamarra, Commercial Manager for Conectia. The cameras proved to have the best price-quality on the market
With the video network, the city increased its security level, reduced and quickly solved incidents, such as theft and accidents. The images obtained with Axis cameras became an additional deterrent to complement other security systems and the system allows recalling the file with the images recorded as evidence in investigations. In addition, the images are viewed from a monitoring center that is controlled by civilians in the municipality in conjunction with police officers, in coordination with the 911 emergency centers.
“It should be noted that the facts are recorded from the beginning and that the work done from the Monitoring Center, along with the Police Communications Center, shows that the central axes of the work are the prevention and deterrence of crimes, “ said Victor Knappe, Secretary for Security of the Municipality of Junin.
