TVT Digital Technology is a security equipment manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China. The company has been established since 1999 and has been dedicated in providing customers with reliable surveillance solutions with the latest technology at a competitive price. The latest hot topic for the security industry is HD-SDI and IP , a&s International China Best Buys talks to Joe Qiu, Overseas Business Director, to gain a better insight to company's view on HD-SDI and how this will affect their plans for 2012.

IP has been existent on the market for years. However, its acceptance does not go very smoothly while installers and system integrators found the technical difficulties in transiting from analogue to IP.

Users have found it much easier to accept HD-SDI due to its similar technical structure to the traditional analogue system. From the second half of 2011, market demand has been growing steadily. “We believe that IP and HD-SDI will appeal to their respective markets,” said Joe Qiu, Overseas Business Director at TVT. “As a total solution provider, we highly value our IP and HD-SDI, within our company we have two R&D teams focusing on the development of IP and HD-SDI.”

However, the prominent problem with HD-SDI is the lack of HD-SDI DVR suppliers. Qiu points out that from a technical point of view, the maturity of the HD-SDI camera technology is at the same level as the ordinary analogue camera. “Currently, the majority of companies have been unable to release a stable HD-SDI DVR,” said Qiu. “Therefore, many customers are only aware of the HD-SDI camera, but are unable to find a suitable HD-SDI DVR.”

Another main technological difficulty with HD-SDI is the transmission distance being too short. It can be solved by adding repeaters in the system. Nevertheless, with more repeaters the system has, the more cost it comes with too. “We have a new solution to lower transmission costs by refining our own repeater,” said Qiu.

According to Qiu, the average transmission distance of a repeater is approximately 70 to 100 meters. “The way we do is, he said, is to extend the transmission distance of a single repeater to 170 meters without affecting image quality. And the price of a repeater is at a considerably lower price in comparison to average price from other suppliers. By using fewer repeaters in the whole structuring, it will lower our customer's burdens in terms of spending.”

HD-SDI Total Solution Provider
Since the beginning of 2011, HD surveillance technology, products and market developed rapidly. “As TVT always stays one step ahead in the market, we have foreseen HD-SDI would be a technological direction for the security industry,” said Qiu.

“From a customers' point of view HD-SDI is still just a camera concept as there is not a complete solution available on the market,” stated Qiu. He further states that most of manufacturers are only supplying one product, instead of providing a complete solution. “This has created the misconception that HD-SDI is not mature,” added Qiu.

Therefore in 2011, TVT released a product series incorporating the second generation chip for IP and HD-SDI all-in-one solution. According to Qiu, TVT was one of the first Chinese companies to release the HD-SDI DVR. “In December 2011, we displayed our 4-ch 1080P real-time HD-SDI DVR,” stated Qiu. “With testing and development being conducted for over a year, we can now supply a complete series of HD-SDI DVR's, which include 4-ch, 8-ch and 16-ch 1080P.”

At the same time the company released their TD-2708XD-F, a HD-SDI and analogue hybrid real-time product, making the company one of the earliest to provide such a product in the market. “When testing our HD-SDI samples, our feedback from customers have been very positive,” claimed Qiu. “The image quality, stability and software solution are highly gratified by our customers.”

From a costs point of view, HD-SDI cameras are relatively lower than network cameras. Through new technology development, the company will soon solve the high cost issue of the HD-SDI DVR and repeater. “We believe that in 2012, we can launch a complete economical HD-SDI solution, providing a more affordable, convenient and manageable high definition solution,” added Qiu.

Excellency
With the long-term experience in manufacturing DVR, the company knows how to make their products catering to user's demand, in terms of providing multiple functionalities, stability, user-friendly interface as well as strong software.

The stability of the DVR and image quality are features to distinguish from other competitors. “Our image quality is between 980 to 1,000 TVL and the resolution rate is 20% more efficient,” said Qiu. “Besides, our image definition and color restoration are better than our competitors.”

New Launch
At the network camera front, the company will showcase new device which features ONVIF 2.0 with an open Software Development Kit (SDK). “Meanwhile, in order to shorten the technology gap while installing the network camera, we designed “IP Tool” for our customers,” said Qiu. “Our customer's can better serve their customers while the installation becomes easy. The aim of “IP Tool” is to increase service efficiency and reduce maintenance cost and risks, leveraging both benefits.”

“Furthermore, our network camera features the newest Cortex A9 DUOCORE 1Ghz CPU and Panasonic's CMOS,” added Qiu. “The CMOS image quality remains unaffected even under 0.1 Lux scenario and this is even better than CCD,” stated Qiu.

Speaking of company's NVR, Qiu points out it can support maximum 16-ch 1080P video recording and playback, and their next step is to continue to optimize IP software, in order to ensure the stability, image quality, easy management and services.

The company will release its new products, ranging from real-time 16-ch 1080P HD-SDI DVR to wide ranges of HD-SDI front-end devices. In addition, transmission devices, analogue and IP compatible with CMS and client software system will all be available at Secutech International at Taipei in April.
