The sensors use battery-operated wireless transmitters to communicate with a central station through a wireless receiver that, if an intrusion is detected, sends an email message and alerts the authorities.

The installed system uses three different Redwall models to satisfy different dimensional needs in coverage. Redwall SIP-3020WFi sensors, with a coverage range of 100' x 65', are used along the short sides of the pool, while Model SIP-404WFi sensors with a range of 130' x 13' cover the long sides. A Model VX-402Ri sensor, with 40' x 40' coverage, secures the pool's entryway. The sensors are designed to integrate easily with security cameras, giving Riverdale a simple upgrade path if the need arises.
