As access control products have become pretty commoditized, manufacturers must find ways to differentiate and make themselves stand out. Hundure does this by customization.

“There is product differentiation, and there is solution differentiation. For the latter case, we have large projects where users have unique demands, and we customize for them,” said Tom Su, GM Office Marketing and Planning Manager at Hundure Technology.

Hundure, a participant of secutech Taipei 2015, had on display a variety of access control products that included readers, controllers, and access management software that the company sells to various markets including China, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa.

But it's the company's ability to customize that customers find valuable, Su said.

“Customers tell us about their specific needs, which are not easily supported by standard products. So we customize for them according to their needs, and the product is no longer commoditized,” he said. “This is not competition by price. If you compete by price, you come up with something standardized that cannot meet their needs.”

“We often get projects from schools, government offices, and other public facilities. These are projects that are pretty large. Most of them have their own specific demands. Some projects, for example, might want specific systems integrated into access control,” Su said. “For access control products and cards, they are pretty standard. But for large-scale projects, they have special integration needs that are different from our standard products, so we customize for them based on what they need.”
