* Support for H.264 encoding reduces bandwidth requirements and storage costs
* ONVIF ready, providing interoperability with other vendors' ONVIF products
* One firmware covers virtually all Bosch IP video products
The new Firmware Release 4.0 is available for Dinion IP, FlexiDome IP, Extreme Series IP and AutoDome IP cameras, as well as the VideoJet X series of encoders and VIP X1600 multichannel encoders and decoders. This means that users of any of these products need to download only one firmware version to update all their IP video products.
This release introduces a great number of new features and structural changes in recording mechanisms. With Firmware Release 4.0, Bosch network cameras and encoders support H.264 encoding, enabling them to deliver high quality video with reduced bandwidth and storage usage. This results in storage costs that are up to 30 percent lower than systems that use traditional MPEG-4 encoding.
Bosch H.264 cameras and encoders can be viewed with either VIDOS v4.0, or by using the Bosch Divar XF hybrid recorder. The cameras and encoders can also be recorded to the Divar XF hybrid recorder, local storage on a Bosch encoder or direct-to-iSCSI using Bosch's iSCSI RAID storage units that can be located anywhere on the IP network. The new firmware also offers traditional MPEG-4 and JPEG modes if required for compatibility with systems that do not yet support H.264.
