Mission
The Baldisserri Hotels Group has been operating successfully for years in the hotel industry. The Forlì hotels were created in order to satisfy the needs of business travellers, while the Milano Marittima hotels, ideal for pleasant holidays surrounded by greenery and close to the sea, were built to combine family needs and relaxation.

Solution
RCM, an Axis Communications partner, installed two different video surveillance solutions to meet the specific requirements of each hotel. In the Sangiorgio hotel in Forlì, security measures were required inside the hotel, for which AXIS 207 Network Cameras were used. For outdoor areas, AXIS 210 Network Cameras were installed inside Axis Verso housings.

In the Globus hotel in Milano Marittima, the focus was mainly on monitoring outdoor areas. AXIS 221 Day & Night Network Cameras, which offer optimal performance in all light conditions, were deployed. Additionally, a CAMTRACE server was installed for managing, viewing and recording video.

Result
The excellent quality of the images obtained even in extreme light conditions enables uninterrupted monitoring of areas at risk in both hotels, thus guaranteeing the safety and peace of mind of the guests. The client is fully satisfied with the solution.

The requirement
Since it needed to renovate two of its hotels, the Baldisserri Hotel Group decided to provide them with a video surveillance system during the re-design phase, in order to ensure the security of hotel premises, assets, staff and guests.

The solution required an easy-to-use and highly reliable system with round-the-clock recording of images, and the possibility to monitor and record video remotely, both in real-time and deferred time.

The video surveillance solution offered by Axis was able to respond perfectly to the security needs of the Baldisserri Group. RCM, a company that specializes in advanced technological solutions and an Axis partner, offered the customer two different systems, one for the Forlì hotel and one for the hotel in Milano Marittima.

For the Forlì hotel, RCM suggested a system for monitoring its indoor areas, whilst for the Milano Marittima hotel, the video surveillance requirements were met with continuous monitoring of the sensitive outdoor areas, such as garages and entrances.

The applications
In the Sangiorgio hotel in Forlì, security measures were required inside the hotel, therefore AXIS 207 Network Cameras were chosen, the smallest MPEG-4 network cameras in the world. The cameras, thanks to their small form factor and unobtrusive design, were particularly suitable for hidden installations. For outdoor surveillance, AXIS 210 Network Cameras were chosen and installed inside Axis Verso housings.

In the Globus hotel in Milano Marittima, the aim was to monitor the outdoor areas effectively. These included the garden, garages and side entrances. Due to the poor light conditions, AXIS 221 Day & Night Network Cameras were chosen, as they are able to offer optimal performance in all lighting conditions.

For recording and viewing the recorded images, the system design included the installation of a CAMTRACE server, a computer specifically developed to manage the images with two 1GB network cards, one for the camera network and the other for remote viewing. The CAMTRACE system was chosen due to the possibility to increase the number of network cameras up to 100, the possibility to customize groups of network cameras, and the convenience of not having to install any software on the remote computers.

Implementation results
The implementation of the video surveillance project for the Forlì and Milano Marittima hotels has proven to be fully satisfactory for the customer. The ability to discreetly monitor the sensitive areas of the hotels, preventing customers from being bothered by the invasive presence of surveillance cameras, has been appreciated. The wide range of Axis network cameras has made it possible to create two different systems based on the different requirements described during the briefing. The excellent quality of images obtained even in poor light conditions has enabled uninterrupted monitoring of areas at risk in both hotels, thus guaranteeing the safety and peace of mind of the guests.
