Arecont Vision Cameras Catch Korean Traffic Violations
Arecont Vision 2010/6/8

Recognizing the license plate numbers of cars traveling at high speeds through a dimly lit tunnel may seem like a highly challenging surveillance application. Fortunately, day/night dual-sensor cameras from Arecont Vision can provide detailed, sharp images even in low-light environments. That is why the local law enforcement and traffic authority of a recently constructed motor vehicle tunnel in Korea have turned to the solution from Arecont Vision.

The system was designed by local distributor, ViewRun, a Korean company experienced in machine vision and surveillance, and was installed by their integrator, Korea Image Systems. The high resolution megapixel surveillance cameras from Arecont were installed to capture the license numbers of cars that break the tunnel’s traffic lights.

The Korean tunnel application uses Arecont’s dual-sensor megapixel full motion progressive scan network cameras providing up to 15 fps in color, or day mode and 30 fps in black-and-white or night mode. Each camera contains a massively-parallel image processor chip that is capable of sustaining more than 6 billion operations per second, providing outstanding resolution and performance.

ViewRun selected Arecont cameras because of their low-light performance and the full motion progressive scan capabilities, facilitating an installation and implementation process. The tunnel system also uses Arecont's NVR software and the video management software provided by A&H Software House, an Arecont technology partner. The system sends video images along a100 base T Internet connection.
