The Internet of Things, cloud computing, and big data are driving the development and application of digital technologies. Together with the introduction of urban smart grids in the future, innovative AI technology in smart buildings will play a key role in energy management. The rapid development of a variety of smart digital technologies will entirely upend today's industrial, operational, and management models. At the Smart Trend Exhibition, Siemens will, via the latest digital technology applications, unveil a blueprint for smart living in the future. Key facets of this include:

• Future Smart Building and Energy Management: Energy use in today's buildings is demand driven. Once cities implement smart grids, energy use in smart buildings will become supply driven. Buildings will utilize wind generation, solar power, and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation equipment to produce energy on their own. While this will provide the power needed for their own use, it will also offer the possibility for buildings to sell excess power through the smart grid at times of high prices, thereby playing an important role in efficient energy management.

• Smart Building Management Systems: Smart building management systems constitute the brain of buildings and are able to engage in fire prevention, access control, cooling and heating, and electricity management on an independent and integrated basis. Buildings will no longer simply be a cold reinforced concrete structure, but rather a living form encompassing smart and sensitive networks and that can respond automatically and optimally to changes in the environment. Systems coordinate with each other on a single platform and operate in an integrated manner to achieve the highest standards of comfort, safety and energy savings. Interactive applications at the exhibition will enable visitors to experience building automation and energy management under various scenarios.

• Smart Factory Management: Siemens is committed to the development of digital enterprises and continues to enhance its Digital Enterprise Suite solutions to meet the future challenges associated with the Industrie 4.0 vision. Via Teamcenter, which is a customer-driven collaborative and cooperative platform, Siemens has created a seamless and integrated model encompassing PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), MES/MOM (Manufacturing Executive System/Manufacturing Operations Management), and TIA (Totally Integrated Automation). Siemens cloud-based open IoT operating system MindSphere facilitates the exchange of information, achieving consistent data management using a unified hardware and software interface, enhancing production flexibility and efficiency, while ensuring higher quality and shorter times to get products to the market. This satisfies the needs of many industries and enterprises of all sizes, and effectively helps customers progress towards achieving Industrie 4.0 principles.

The TAIPEI 101 Smart Trend Exhibition will be held from August 21 to August 25 in the first floor lobby of the TAIPEI 101 office building.
