HID Global Adds MIFARE DESFire EV1 Card, Broadening Access Control Options Across Wider Range of Applications

HID Global, trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity, today announced it has expanded its secure identity credentials offering to support the latest MIFARE DESFire EV1 technology. The MIFARE DESFire EV1 card joins HID Global’s widely adopted iCLASS card portfolio to expand customer options for deploying the highest levels of security, while maximizing the value of their credential investment by enabling multiple applications on a single card.
HID’s expanded secure Genuine HID card offering includes both MIFARE DESFire EV1-only and combination MIFARE DESFire EV1/Prox credentials. Available in PVC and durable composite PET/PVC construction, the cards are designed for diverse applications and can accept an embeddable contact chip for logical access ID systems.
“HID’s latest cards are ideal for multi-technology migration requirements, and enable MIFARE DESFire EV1 applications to be added to an existing HID Prox-based access control system,” said David Nichols, Director, Market Strategy for Secure Identity with HID Global. “This and other HID Global migration options enable customers to move from legacy low-frequency to advanced high-frequency technology. By providing the latest MIFARE DESFire EV1 card technology, HID extends the Genuine HID value proposition and supports customers with the industry’s broadest range of secure identity credential technologies.”
To provide the most extensive range of backwards compatibility with existing systems, HID high frequency cards are available with prox and magnetic stripe options. In addition, MIFARE DESFire EV1 cards can be programmed to user specifications and fully personalized with a wide range of customization options that are offered through HID’s Identity on Demand services. HID Global’s MIFARE DESFire EV1 cards reinforce the Genuine HID value proposition, extending the company’s complete line of interoperable solutions and associated support offerings that optimize security investments over time.
MIFARE DESFire EV1 technology is proven and reliable, and delivers transaction times of less than 100 milliseconds for a typical secure transaction. Based on open global standards, the technology is fully compliant with ISO 14443A 1-4 specifications and has been awarded CC EAL 4－ certification for card security.
