US forecasters say the "El Nino" weather phenomenon is unlikely to bring relief to drought stricken California, and it is also expected to bring drier conditions to Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and parts of Southeast Asia, plus heavier rainfall in the eastern Pacific and South American nations, raising the spectre of floods and landslides. This phenomenon can cause havoc for farmers and agricultural markets worldwide and these extreme weather conditions may weaken and damage infrastructures.
