There is a growing interest in 'Federated' PSIM solutions, which allow standalone PSIM deployments to manage their own environments on a day to day basis, while allowing collaboration with each other in the event of a major incident or threat by handing over control to a dedicated emergency response center. Federated PSIM also enables centralized management of processes and threat levels irrespective of local configurations or equipment, and with no expertise needed in local sites. For example, in a large corporation the global security operations center (GSOC) is able to manage processes while maintaining real-time situational awareness at the remote sites.
