ADT Security Appoints New Asia Pacific Strategy VP

ADT Security has named Alex Kim as VP of Strategy for its Asia Pacific region. In this newly created role, Kim is responsible for steering the region's business strategy as well as evaluating potential mergers and acquisitions. He also leads the region’s product and services strategies, which focus on innovation.

ADT Security has named Alex Kim as VP of Strategy for its Asia Pacific region. In this newly created role, Kim is responsible for steering the region's business strategy as well as evaluating potential mergers and acquisitions. He also leads the region's product and services strategies, which focus on innovation.


A veteran in strategy and business development as well as in sales and marketing, Kim has recently completed his assignment as an Innovation Fellow with University of Michigan where he joined in 2008. He was selected to research and develop innovations and entrepreneurial ventures that will have an impact on both local and global scales. He also evaluated top innovations to move forward for patent and business incubation.


In a more recent role, Kim was Senior VP for Asia and MD for Korea at Carlson Marketing, a subsidiary of Carlson Companies. In directing the daily operations at the marketing and advertising agency, he led strategic business developments across the region to sustain business growth. Within two years, Kim grew profitability and revenue at 162 percent and 128 percent respectively, and expanded existing and new businesses from key clients like Proctor & Gamble, Intel, LG, and Hewlett-Packard.


Before Carlson, Kim was the Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Development for DaimlerChrysler Corporation. In that position, he led international market strategies and business development efforts and facilitated strategic business developments in Russia, India, Venezuela, Korea, Taiwan and countries in Southeast Asia. He was also its lead sales and marketing advisor to the China Operations in Beijing. As Head of the China Task Force, he developed a turnaround plan which helped the China joint venture attain profitability. He also established a joint distribution company with Mitsubishi.

"With his sharp business acumen and wealth of experience in devising regional and international market strategies, Alex is an important addition to our management team."


Kim earned his MBA from the University of Chicago and his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also served four years as an officer in US Navy in Engineering and Combat Systems departments.
