Daon , a provider of identity assurance software and services, announced that its software has been selected by prime contractor Unisys to power the Government of Mexico's National Service of Personal Identification (SNIP) program. The Daon platform will deliver multimodal biometrics fusion, combining iris, finger and face records to maximize accuracy.

"We are pleased to have Daon as a member of our delivery team. With a population of 110 million people and incorporating multimodal fusion, the Mexican government has launched an extremely advanced project. Our experience working with Daon and its platform around the globe has been excellent. Their proven, standards-based identity platform fits in an open and complementary way within Unisys overall LEIDA identity solutions framework," said Terry Hartmann, VP, Identification and Credentialing Solutions, Unisys Corporation.

Daon provides a centralized platform and client biometric infrastructure for a variety of uses including employee credentialing, government benefits programs, trusted identity services, border management, national ID, airport e-gate systems and immigration control. Daon's Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software, industry recognized expertise and large scale program experience enables the delivery of solutions that reduce risk, schedule and cost.

Commenting on this latest award, Daon's CEO, Tom Grissen said, "The Mexico SNIP project is the largest multimodal and fusion project of its type. We are proud to support the Government of Mexico in providing an advanced, flexible and open solution. Our COTS platform will enable this vital program to rapidly reach operational status and we congratulate Unisys and its consortium partner AXTEL on this impressive contract award".
