Gunnebo Security Group has won an order for the Shenzhen Metro System, Line 5, worth more than US$ 2 million.
Shenzhen Metro has awarded Gunnebo, through its automatic fair-collection/ticketing systems (AFC) integrator, an order to provide metro flap-gates, specially designed for high volume and safe use in metro stations, for its new Line 5 project. According to the contract, Gunnebo will deliver around 400 entry and exit gates during 2010.
"The Chinese metro-market is undergoing substantial growth and I am very pleased that Shenzhen Metro has chosen Gunnebo for this prestigious order," said Per Borgvall, Gunnebo President and CEO.
"Gunnebo's extensive experience and professional support regarding metro entrance control solutions proved decisive in Shenzhen Metro's choice of supplier," he said. "With our future plans to have our own company in China, Gunnebo will be even more active on this booming market and there are great opportunities to further develop our already now successful and profitable metro-business."
The gates that Gunnebo are providing have a reputation in managing high throughput-numbers, with proven reliability and durability. The gates were initially designed for use in the KCRC metro-system in Hong Kong which created the regional benchmark, with subsequent installations in Beijing, Shanghai, and many other metro systems throughout China.
