AXIS 233D Network Dome Camera

The AXIS 233D network dome camera includes a progressive scan, 35x zoom, fast and precise pan/tilt mechanics and wide dynamic range to ensure superb performance and superior image quality. With 35x optical and 12x digital zoom, the AXIS 233D can zoom in on small or distant objects, allowing license plates to be clearly identified from a distance of 160 meters (525 feet). With traditional interlaced scanning NTSC and PAL techniques, every image consists of two frames captured one right after the other; these are then merged. This results in degraded quality when freezing images in recorded video. The camera also has electronic image stabilizers (EIS) that reduce effects from vibration caused by traffic or wind, giving sharper images.

The AXIS 233D offers MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG. Video streams can be optimized for image quality and bandwidth by configuration of frame rate, resolution, compression level and format, providing up to 30 frames per second in 4CIF resolution in all compressions. The freeze function holds images while moving between presets, making for easier operation. The e-flip electronically inverts images by 180 degrees when following objects moving under the dome.
