LG Electronics' third-generation webOS 3.0 smart TV platform being unveiled at CES 2016 has been verified by leading global testing and certification organization, Underwriters Laboratory (UL), for its compatibility with Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the home.

Once connected, LG's SMART TVs with webOS 3.0 will be able to display the status of a user's various smart appliances, thereby acting as an interface between users and their devices. Through the TV, users will be able to control specific home appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners or washing machines that are connected to the internet. Through the IoTV app, homeowners will be able to adjust the brightness of the lights in the room or change the temperature setting of the air conditioner with just a touch of a button.

“We've always considered the living room TV as a central hub of the smart home and LG Smart TV with webOS 3.0 was designed with this functionality in mind,” said Sam Kim, senior vice president and head of TV product planning at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “This UL verification further supports LG's commitment to providing an unparalleled user experience anddeveloping innovative IoT-capable smart home products that exceed consumer expectations.”

UL has verified a series of LG webOS 3.0-enabled OLED and 4K UHD Smart TVs to be announced, and LG's advanced IoT technology will be demonstrated at the Smart Home zone of LG's booth (LVCC Central Hall, #8204) at CES 2016 from Jan. 6-9 in Las Vegas.
