QinetiQ's X-Net helps protect the Royal Wedding

QinetiQ's X-Net helps protect the Royal Wedding
Thames Valley Police used QinetiQ’s vehicle stopping X-Net technology as part of wider security plans to protect the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in St George’s Chapel, Windsor last weekend.
Thames Valley Police deployed X-Net in Windsor which saw crowds of an estimated 110,000 people attend to support the Royal Wedding. Our X-Net vehicle arresting system helps to combat the risk of vehicles being used in terror attacks.

Mike Brown, Senior Campaign Leader at QinetiQ says “We are extremely proud to have been a part of the security solution that kept the Royal Wedding safe. Thankfully X-Net did not have to be used last weekend; however since July 2016 there have been at least 10 widely reported cases of vehicles being used in terror attacks on crowds, killing over 120 people and injuring many more. X-Net offers an easily deployed, adaptable and trusted solution to help combat this threat.”

X-Net is a portable and non-lethal solution capable of stopping vehicles ranging from small cars through to 10 ton lorries. The system has been extensively and independently tested and deployed with military, police and security forces around the world.

X-Net is a spiked net tire-puncturing system which uses a unique ‘spiked’ design which, unlike other systems, brings the target vehicle to a complete stop, under control, irrespective of the type of tire. By wrapping around the wheels and axle of the vehicle whilst puncturing the tires, X-Net prevents any further maneuvering of the threatening vehicle.
