The new SmartRelay 3 3063 Advanced by SimonsVoss can now be used as a high-performance gateway. With this, the user can connect all offline locking devices of a building virtually to combine a highly comfortable locking system. This virtual network gives the user most of the benefits of a fully networked digital online locking system. Instead of connecting each individual locking device with the central administration of the locking system, the user can save the router infrastructure usually required for this. This is made possible by a universal control unit consisting of a controller and a reader – this control unit in turn is connected to the central administration of the locking system. Active as well as passive identification media for the locking devices recorded by the virtual network are directly updated on the reader of the control unit: Whether transponder or card – they are updated on the gateway with access authorisations daily. Up to three such wall readers can be connected to any high-performance gateway.

Quick, flexible and universal
The SmartRelay 3 3063 – Advanced can be integrated into any environment with absolute ease: it works via Ethernet (PoE). With a single SmartRelay unit, which can be purchased separately and can be retrofitted at any time, the user receives a comprehensive and controllable locking system.

A practical example of use in an office building: A gateway is installed at the entrance – there every employee receives their daily access authorisation upon entering. Thanks to the unique reader technology by SimonsVoss, it doesn't matter whether the ID medium is a transponder or a card. The authorisation transferred to the medium is valid for a certain, individually definable period of time – e.g. for an 8-hour work day. If the authorisation is to be terminated or changed, this will be done the next morning when retrieving the authorisation at the gateway. If an ID medium is lost, it can simply be blocked. This gives the user full control of the access authorisations to all locking devices contained in a virtual network.

The new SmartRelay 3 3063 Advanced replaces its predecessor, the SmartRelay 2. Unlike its predecessor, this version is directly connected to the control centre via network and can therefore acquire authorisation data from the database very quickly: This makes the system extremely fast, comfortable and easy to use on a daily basis.

Highly scalable and flexibly combinable
In addition, the virtual network established with SmartRelay 3 3063 – Advanced is virtually infinitely scalable: Up to 200 gateways can be installed – each with three connectable wall readers. With the existing relay outputs, e.g. one automatic sliding door can be controlled. This is ideal for a gateway placed as a door opener at a company's entrance. In this manner, the SREL3 grants access to the building and the user gets their time budget extended.

Unlike with the direct connection of the locking devices with the control station, the cancellation or change of an authorisation generally becomes effective when the owner of the ID medium returns to the gateway, e.g. the next morning of the following work day. Thanks to the "swarm intelligence" of the virtual network, the cancellation of an authorisation can become effective even before the time budget of the respective medium has expired: Every person passing through the gateway authorising themselves with the transponder or card receives the updated authorisation data for the virtual network – it therefore becomes valid for all.
The information comes from the postings to the gateway back to the system and the administrator can see which locking devices have already received the information of the blocked card - thus, there is full control of the system

If the administrator however wishes to suppress authorisations for certain locking devices immediately, he can also still change the authorisation of that device directly by seeking it out and changing the authorisation with the programming device SmartCD.

As a result, the user has three flexibly combinable possibilities to efficiently organise the locking system to their specific needs. Direct connection to the individual locking devices with the central computer for locking device administration – the cost-saving virtual network with the SmartRelay 3 3063 – and on-site programming of the individual locking device with the aid of the SmartCD programming device.

Only SimonsVoss offers this extent of combinability. This also applies to the hybrid reader system: The wall readers accept active transponders as well as passive cards (Mifare DESFire, Classic or Plus).

Operational even during a power outage
During daily use, the virtual network is exceptionally secure – thanks to its high storage capacity to buffer data, so that, for instance, the update of the time budget even continues to work in the event of a power outage. Blacklist distribution with acknowledgement as well as seamless facility monitoring by triggering alarms for critical events are also included.

The SmartRelay 3 3063 – Advanced as high performance gateway in virtual networks
  • Transfer of daily access authorisations from central computers to active and passive ID media.
  • Integration of the control unit in the central control center via Power over Ethernet (PoE)
  • Can be operated with transponders and cards (MIFARE Classic, MIFARE Plus, MIFARE DESFire)
  • Up to 3 readers per gateway (active/passive) per gateway
  • Scalable: up to 200 gateways in the virtual network
  • Combinability of the virtual connection of offline locking devices, direct connection of online locking devices and on-site programming of locking devices with the programming device SmartCD
