NEC announced that NEC Latin America concluded an acquisition agreement for Brazil-based IT Security business Arcon Informatica (Arcon) as part of reinforcing IT Services in the region.

Since its establishment in 1995, Arcon has successfully promoted business through Cyber Security consulting and managed security services, while building a portfolio of leading customers that spans the energy, finance, telecommunications and manufacturing fields, in addition to government agencies.

IT investment in Brazil represents a large portion of Central and South American IT investment. Although the overall pace of economic growth in Brazil has slowed in recent years, the IT market has continued to steadily expand. Specifically, the IT Security market is expected to grow particularly fast over the upcoming years.

NEC first established a local affiliate in Brazil in 1968. Since then, the company has contributed to a wide range of important national projects, including the provision of technologies and services in support of telecommunications, broadcasting and essential infrastructure. Most recently, in addition to the network business for telecommunications carriers, NEC has been strengthening its Safety business, which leverages the world’s most accurate* biometrics authentication technologies, as well as its provision of comprehensive infrastructure for large-scale facilities, such as airports and athletic stadiums in Brazil.

“The acquisition of Arcon enables us to mutually capitalize on their leading technologies, know-how, and customer base in order to drive the expansion of the Cyber Security field in Brazil,” said Daniel Mirabile, President of NEC in Brazil. ”Moreover, we aim to proactively create synergies between our companies that provide even greater value for our new, existing and future clients.”
