Forget mobile, now access security on your TV
The increased prevalence of mobile technology has prompted several security manufacturers to offer support for their solutions on phones and tablet devices. Now, Honeywell has gone a step ahead and brought surveillance camera access to your living room.
The increased prevalence of mobile technology has prompted several security manufacturers to offer support for their solutions on phones and tablet devices. Now, Honeywell Security has gone a step ahead and brought surveillance camera access to your living room.

The Honeywell Total Connect app, previously available for mobile devices, is now available for Apple TV. Other manufacturers like Digital Watchdog have also done this, indicating a trend that is gathering momentum.

“It’s a great way for your customers to engage in real-time video viewing — on any television connected to an Apple TV— while increasing the value of the platform you are selling,” said Donna Namorato, Sr. Channel Manager for Honeywell Total Connect at Honeywell in a blog post on the company website. “With the Apple TV app, users can view and control their Honeywell Total Connect Video cameras from the convenience of their couches, without having to pull their phones out and log into the Honeywell Total Connect app.”

With this app, users will be able to access live feeds from their Honeywell Total Connect cameras, view multiple locations, review video events, remotely pan and tilt cameras to see different views of an area, record video clips of live events and see the status of their security system live on their TV.

Namorato indicated that with the compatibility with Apple TV, the company is able to further its efforts to improve ease of access to the end users.

“With the Honeywell Total Connect Apple TV app, your customers can see exactly what’s happening on their full-screen TVs,” Namorato said. “This compatibility provides customers with the connectivity they demand and a convenient new way to control their Honeywell Total Connect Video accounts and view security system status.”
