Combining high-security electronic and mechanical locking systems

Combining high-security electronic and mechanical locking systems

The city of Baden, north of Zurich, has gained a new hot spot for young audiences with the inauguration of the “Werkk” youth culture facility. The locking systems controlling local access are the electronic system Xesar and the mechanical system ICS made by EVVA.

A good feeling about security
Built over 100 years ago, the “Old Forge” has been revitalized and transformed into a multifunctional event venue including catering facilities. The industrial factory flair dating back to the industrialization period has been conserved and perfectly blends into the new environment. Cutting-edge technology makes sure that numerous user groups, ranging from event organizers, employees, tenants or visitors have fun and feel good in a new environment.

The combination makes the difference
The “Werkk” project presented different requirements for the future locking system: “the customer was first and foremost seeking a highly secure system that permits locally saved data and, on the other hand, provides user-friendly management for different access types of various user groups, such as visitors or staff. Thanks to the combination of ICS and Xesar, we were able to meet both requirements,” explained Mark Gloor, Managing Director at UTO Sicherheitstechnik, a certified EVVA partner.

Maximum security
A choice was made in favor of a combination of a particularly wear-resistant, mechanical locking system and a user-friendly all-rounder in electronic access management. Inner Code System (ICS), a system which excels thanks to its resistant length profile, time-tested curve system and concealed biting. 120 mechanical lock cylinders in connection with the electronic Xesar locking system guarantee maximum building security. 38 Xesar components were installed throughout “Werkk” which can be operated using 100 ICS combined keys and 200 key tags. An additional benefit is that each access attempt and each opening or locking process is logged and can be traced in the system’s administration.

Security technology from a single source provider
“We took a liking to the software’s functionality,” the satisfied customer explained. The timeless design of the Xesar component also perfectly integrates into the modern environment. “As a public building, the youth culture facility must comply with a host of security stipulations that EVVA was able to meet. The complexity of the lock structure required excellent planning,” the architect added.

Xesar, the versatile security solution
The electronic locking system Xesar is the innovation from EVVA. Developed and manufactured in Austria, Xesar offers a wide variety of products, areas of application and timeless design. Easy assembly, the free Xesar software and the unique EVVA KeyCredits are just a few of the many Xesar benefits.
