Brazilian distributor launches app to educate SIs

One of the biggest challenges in the Brazilian security market today is the limited opportunities to educate systems integrators (SI) on the right solutions. WDC Networks, a major distributor in the country, has launched an app to counter this.

Known as ip facil (Easy IP in English) the app aims to equip systems integrators with the right knowledge of operation. Speaking to a&s, Vanderlei Rigatieri, Director of WDC, explained the motive behind launching such an app.

“I think a challenge we have always had here [Brazil] is education,” said Rigatieri. “I think that the market overall needs to have education. That is why we are launching an app for smartphones, which will be like a teacher online. If you are a technician and you are going to do a project using video surveillance cameras and you don’t know exactly how to install, this application is going to help you easily access manuals and tutorials.”

Lack of awareness about quality products make Brazilian customers opt for lower price over quality. With initiatives like ip facil, SIs would be in a better position to make their customers understand the advantages of giving importance to quality.

The app will also include topics like how to do cabling and how to configure equipment. WDC plans to open the app to all the manufacturers who would like to include their education content in it. The app is currently limited to Brazilian market but will be introduced it to other countries at a later stage.

Brazil is currently facing major economic difficulties and political instability. This in turn has impacted the security industry, which is seeing customers invest less and look more for costs reduction. Initiatives like the ip facil from WDC could help distributors strengthen their position among consumers.
