With security hardware becoming more commoditized, vendors find it harder and harder to compete on products alone. Many of them therefore have turned to solutions and customization to meet users’ specific needs.

One such example is Taiwan-based Hundure Technology, an exhibitor at this year’s secutech where it displayed access control solutions that can benefit users in various vertical markets, including government, schools, banks, factories, enterprises, and residential.

In terms of hardware, Hundure showcased readers, controllers, and peripheral devices. The readers come with unique designs. One model includes a keypad that lights up only upon use, therefore saving more power and giving a warm and comfortable look-and-feel. Controllers range from one-door to multi-door support, offering users flexibility as they scale up. Hundure also demonstrated its biometrics series, authenticating the user’s identity via their fingerprint and finger vein patterns.

Hardware aside, Hundure displayed solutions that integrate access control with other systems, including HR system, elevator system, and parking system. With the company’s access control management system, for example, the user can use the same card to open doors in the building, enter the parking lot, or take the elevator.

“We don’t focus just on the hardware. We've been doing solutions for a long time and have had good results with them,” said Tom Su, Market Planning Manager with Hundure.

Another capability that Hundure has developed is customization, changing the design or functionality of products based on the specific demands of the customer.

“The end user has a variety of needs, from putting their logo on the device to specific demands with regard to the product’s firmware or functionality. In some project, for example, the end user wants special applications such as equipment booking and meal vending incorporated into their access control, and we can do it for them,” Su said. “With the Asian security market becoming more competitive, offering integrated solutions as well as value-added service is the way to survive and win out.”

In overseas markets, Hundure sells its products through local distributors. In Taiwan, the company also works with systems integrators and end users directly to reach different market segments.
