Aimetis is excited to announce that Symphony 7 is coming soon. Based on users' feedback, the new version provides a refreshing new design, reduced installation complexity, and significant performance improvements over version 6.

Many new features are also included, but the biggest change is the redesigned and streamlined user interface for both the administrator and operator clients. The Windows client is focused on operator tasks exclusively, while administration tasks, such as adding cameras and configuring video analytics has been moved to a totally new web browser-based interface. Below are some key highlights:

Browser-Based Administrator Client
The installation and configuration process is now significantly improved, by popular demand. Once Symphony is installed, the actual setup and configuration is done inside the HTML5-based web console. This allows the administrator to configure the entire system through the convenience of a web browser instead of installing a Windows client.

This approach eliminates common Windows client compatibility problems found when managing different servers on different versions. Security for the administrator is enhanced by implementing built-in SSL encryption on all communications.

Operator Client
The Symphony 7 Windows client received a UI overhaul and is used exclusively for video and alarm monitoring now that all administration tasks are moved to the web interface. As a result, more screen real estate is available for video monitoring, as many toolbars have been eliminated entirely or presented as transparent menu options on top of the video stream.

In all, UI complexity has been decreased by 50 percent, which helps reduce setup time and increases productivity for operators.

Performance
Symphony 7 performance benchmarks reveal an improvement over the previous version. Both the Windows client and the server have efficiency gains, which result in a better user experience and smaller hardware footprint. This increases the scalability of Symphony and further solidifies its place as having the lowest total cost of ownership of any VMS on the market.
