The WavestoreUSA open platform video storage and management solution is the basis for an upgraded video security system at Water’s Edge Condominiums in Clearwater. Offering best in breed IP-based video, security and network related products, Tampa-based security systems integrator upgrades aged analog devices at Water’s Edge Tower to a complete IP surveillance system utilizing a WavestoreUSA P448 TB/64-channel unit to manage cameras, allow remote monitoring and store video recording.

The Water’s Edge Home Owner’s Association (HOA) wants to keep an eye on the property, control visitors and protect the residents of the condominium complex. The WavestoreUSA system allows any video feed to be viewed instantly and can easily be scaled as security requirements change. Converting an analog system to IP network electronic technology, the WavestoreUSA P4 offers the integrator ease of installation and camera configuration.

Built in 2008 and referred by some as “The Ghost Tower,” for more than five years the Water’s Edge condominium tower loomed empty over downtown Clearwater until the economy rebounded and new investors were in place.

The initial conversion of 37 analog cameras, replaced by a combination of Vivotek IP domes, Hikvision IP PTZs and Mobotix 360 degree cameras, requires fewer IP cameras be used for full coverage. Allowing the ability to control each device centrally from one main control unit, guards at the front desk concierge area can see great views of the entire facility including each zone in every direction on each level within the parking garage.

The project has since been expanded from the original 35 IP cameras to include a total of 48 high resolution IP cameras.
