The IPS VideoManager video management system provides in its current version many new functions for a more convenient handling and a better performance. Improved algorithms in the IPS VideoAnalytics, which can be integrated seamlessly into IPS VideoManager, enable a significant decrease of false alarms.

IPS VideoManager – new features
IPS Intelligent Video Analytics, a business unit of Securiton, is proud to announce the latest version 7.0 of IPS VideoManager and IPS VideoAnalytics with various enhancements. Among the new features is the dynamic ring buffer management, which leads to a more efficient use of the hard disk capacity. Furthermore the management of large multi-site-systems has been simplified through a centrally controlled backup of video recordings. Along with enhancements of the video wall functions, the IPS team worked on a better visualisation within the video manager client. Preview images will be displayed in the site plan, when moving the mouse pointer over a camera icon.

For H.264, the playback of the recordings can be controlled precisely and each single image can be displayed forward or reverse. This feature enables a maximum of accuracy in the forensic search. A requirement that is interesting for applications such as casinos or financial institutions, where critical incidents can be completed within a split second.

Several enhancements, for instance within the log entries and the user rights were implemented, so that the IPS VideoManager is now compliant with the system requirements for video surveillance systems according to DIN EN 62676. Moreover the connection to third party systems has been simplified through one additional new file interface.

Reduction of false alarms through improved video analytics
Numerous improvements were also made in the IPS server-based Video Analytics. Peter Treutler, Director of the IPS business unit, explains: “In version 7.0 of our server-based video analytics, our focus was on improvements of quality relating to the suppression of disturbances. In the end, the enormous potential of video analytics can only be fully exploited through reliable detection and low false alarm rates.”

In addition there are new features in some IPS VideoAnalytics products. Among them is the capability of object classification in the module IPS Loitering Detection. Improvements in the module IPS Privacy Protection provide more flexibility masking objects and therefore the highest possible privacy protection. One more new feature in this module is the option of irreversible blurring.

Furthermore, there have been extensive improvements in the module IPS Dome Tracker, a video analytics software for the real-time control of PTZ cameras. The reliability of object tracking could be increased significantly, by being able to better detect potentially disturbing influences, such as rapid changes in movement or overlapping objects. Even when an object moves underneath the camera, it can be tracked smoothly
