Nedap, leading specialist in vehicle detection and identification technology, and Cross, leading manufacturer of technological components for road electric infrastructure, announce a strategic partnership that focuses on further improving the control of traffic flows in cities. With the integration of Nedap’s parking bay sensor system SENSIT into the Cross traffic management and information system InVipo, real-time information about the usage of parking spaces in the streets can be monitored closely, in order to actively guide motorists looking for an available parking spot.

The Czech company Cross is developer and manufacturer of an adaptive traffic management and information system InVipo. Nedap, headquartered in the Netherlands, is developer and manufacturer of the wireless vehicle detection system SENSIT. The first ITS project deployment by Cross, integrated with SENSIT, will be announced at Intertraffic Amsterdam, 5 to 8 April 2016.

Intelligent traffic management
The full integration of SENSIT into InVipo offers Cross extensive knowledge about the public transportation and vehicle and pedestrian traffic movements throughout cities. This enables local authorities to develop traffic services for their citizens. Based on real-time traffic data, road users can select the best available route to their destination. This intelligent traffic system decreases travel times, improves traffic flows and reduces C02 emissions

Integrated with InVipo, real-time information enables local authorities and parking operators to increase the utilization of the existing parking capacity, as well as to reduce the number of vehicles searching for a parking space.

“In a time of the ITS business consolidation, finding technologically strong partners is crucial. Cross is happy to partner with NEDAP as both companies strive for tackling smart mobility by offering cutting-edge solutions in their respective areas of expertise,” says Tomáš Juřík, CEO of Cross.

Nedap’s SENSIT consists of wireless in-ground sensors which detect in real-time whether or not a single parking bay is occupied and how long it has been occupied. Through the wireless radio communication network this information is transmitted to the SENSIT Software. The real-time parking occupancy status and parking duration information is made available from the cloud for integration. SENSIT offers the opportunity to closely monitor and enforce the usage of parking spaces. Integrated with InVipo, real-time information enables local authorities and parking operators to increase the utilization of the existing parking capacity, as well as to reduce the number of vehicles searching for a parking space.

“We are very pleased that Cross selected Nedap and recognized the proven quality of the SENSIT system. Cross is a pioneer in the traffic industry. We are now able to provide a complete solution for smart city customers in order to improve urban mobility”, says Ido Wentink, Business Development Manager at Nedap.
