The majority of the data (telemetry) is transmitted to the pit in real time using radio from the cars. The information is distributed using a LAN infrastructure.

Additionally, live video signals from cameras inside and outside the race car and from around the race track are received and used to monitor and assess the driving conditions.

All video sources are converted to IPTV streams and distributed over the IP network at the pit, avoiding the necessity to build a coax network alongside the Ethernet based PC network. All video streams are recorded for later analysis.

Cameras at the race track provide the signal sources in DVB-C/T or ATSC format to the pit. By using the DMM-Series IPTV gateways, these signals are converted to IP and distributed over the network.

With MC-SCREEN encoding software, it is possible to encode PC desktops directly and add the displayed information as video stream to the network. Streams coming from IP cameras with RTSP protocol are received with MC-ROUTE and converted to standard multicast traffic.

Decoding of the streams is done with Teracue IP Multi Viewer and IPTV set-top-boxes. To provide video evidence, all existing streams are recorded using ICUE Media Server. ICUE offers the possibility to trim, clip and export the needed recordings fast and direct to provide the video evidence to the race management center.
