Integrated Biometrics, developer of the world's smallest, lightest, most reliable FBI-compliant fingerprint scanners, is pleased to announce that its production facility in Seoul, South Korea, has successfully achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 certification. The facility produces the company's Sherlock, Watson Mini, and Columbo one- and two-finger mobile fingerprint scanners as well as a yet-to-be-released ten-print roll scanner.

"The ISO certification process was intense yet rewarding, as it offered us an opportunity to enhance our manufacturing capabilities through a comprehensive review of our internal practices," said Daniel Jang, President of Integrated Biometrics Korea.

The Seoul facility produces multiple certified FBI Appendix F, FAP 30, FAP 35, and FAP 60 as well as non-certified fingerprint scanners, all of which utilize the company's patented light emitting sensor (LES) film. This unique, paper-thin (less than 1 mm thick form factor) lightweight film enables Integrated Biometrics fingerprint scanners to be extremely energy efficient, lightweight, and reliable to accommodate global security integrators and OEM manufacturers throughout the world.

Products featuring Integrated Biometrics fingerprint scanners are used by government, law enforcement, military, and private industry worldwide for a multitude of ever-expanding uses like border security, voter registration, field identification of suspects and security threats and access control.

"The use of fingerprint biometrics as a standalone or complimentary identity management tool in both the certified arena and consumer space is growing exponentially, especially in Asia," said Alex Tan, Director of Sales, Asia Pacific at Integrated Biometrics. In addition to identifying individuals and verifying their identities, fingerprint biometrics are being looked at to help replace the traditional password as a means of accessing electronic devices and physical facilities. According to a recent survey of 300 IT decision makers, 91 percent think the traditional password will not exist in ten years, while biometrics spending is projected to grow 29 percent in the next five years.

Integrated Biometrics certified fingerprint scanners continue to be popular for use in the field thanks to their rugged environmental design which removes the negative effects that extreme weather can have on traditional optical scanners; resists extreme hot or cold temperatures; quality readings impervious to dirt, oils, or moisture on the film or fingers; their lack of breakable glass components; and the ability to operate in any condition including bright light or direct sunlight while operating at high capacity with extraordinarily low power consumption.

In addition to the international ISO 9001 certification of its manufacturing facility, Integrated Biometrics has achieved certification of many of its products which are compliant to or certified by national and other international standards including RoHS, IP65, CE, FCC, FBI Appendix F FAP series, PIV/FIPS 201 and IEC 6100-4-2.
