MicroPower Technologies, provider of surveillance solutions optimized for rapid, cost-effective deployment, announced that Rocco Fabiano has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Fabiano, the current Chairman of Gimbal, will leverage his extensive technology and executive management experience to help position MicroPower for sustained growth across the globe.

Fabiano has a wide range of experience in both enterprise environments and entrepreneurial organizations. He previously served as the CEO of Gimbal, and played a strategic role in transitioning the organization to a standalone company. Prior to Gimbal, Fabiano joined Qualcomm in 2010 as President of the company’s Firehorn mobile commerce subsidiary, which later became Qualcomm Retail Solutions. Before joining Qualcomm, he oversaw four subsidiaries of Household International (now known as HSBC North America), which accounted for $35 billion in assets and $650 million per year in after-tax profits.

MicroPower designs SOLVEIL, a megapixel surveillance camera for perimeter and outdoor applications. The wireless design minimizes deployment time, reduces installation complexity, cabling and conduit, and limits business disruption.

Over the course of his career, Fabiano also spearheaded the launch of a number of start-up organizations, taking two businesses public and selling two others during this period. In 1997, he was honored as the Ernst & Young/NASDAQ Entrepreneur of the Year. Fabiano holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University, as well as a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University.

“We are pleased to welcome Rocco to the MicroPower Board of Directors. I believe that his extensive experience in driving global business growth will be a strong asset as MicroPower continues to reach new levels of success in our target markets,” said Aaron Tankersley, CEO, MicroPower Technologies. “This is an exciting time for MicroPower as we continue to advance our technology portfolio, and drive new levels of growth and efficiency throughout the organization. I look forward to working closely with Rocco and our board as we seek to maximize our potential in today’s market.”
