DynaColor continues to provide best OEM/ODM services

DynaColor continues to provide best OEM/ODM services
Around eight years ago, many security companies were met with tremendous challenges from the global economic recession and the migration from analog to IP video technology. DynaColor was among the companies that experienced a temporary slowdown in its growth; however, the company has proved its worth in the industry with its achievements over the years.

DynaColor is one of the very few Taiwanese companies that has been able to maintain substantial growth over the years without being affected much by Chinese competition. Since the company shifted its focus from analog to IP video technology in 2008, its sales revenue has grown very steadily year by year. "Particularly in 2014, we experienced our highest growth over the past eight years," said Anthony Yeh, EVP of DynaColor. Compared to many other leading Taiwanese manufacturers who were affected in 2014, DynaColor impressed the industry a lot. "In 2014, IP products had already took up over 90 percent of our total shipment, which was totally opposite to what we had in 2008," he continued. The main factors which set DynaColor apart from its competitors are its strong technological background and long-term commitment to its customers. In the security industry for more than 20 years, DynaColor has stuck to an OEM/ODM business model to provide their advanced technologies and high-quality products to their clients. Starting from its successful development of CRT alignment systems and high speed dome cameras, now the company has a complete product line of IP video surveillance systems — cameras, video management software (VMS), and NVRs. The company invests 18-percent annually to R&D and over 50 percent of their employees are engineers that support the company to continuously provide the latest technologies and professional services. Therefore, the company has built up a trustworthy reputation with world famous brands in the market.

Quality and Technology: Two Foundations
Having been recognized by many multinational brands for years, DynaColor is very proud of its quality control procedures. “Since many of our clients are multinational companies, our factory and products have undergone their strict inspection and examination. For instance, in many cases, we have to comply with their global standards, which are required not only for security, but also for other electronics devices,” said Yeh.

In order to keep competitive in the market, DynaColor will continue to keep itself ahead of the latest technological developments to fulfill their customers’ needs in different applications. “For example, in a mall, our cameras embedded with intelligent video analysis can be used for tracking customer flow, people counting, and facial recognition to identify customers’ gender and age, etc. By providing the IP cameras with high picture quality and processing power, we can ensure our customers a powerful data analysis tool for making accurate business plans and decisions,” Yeh explained.

On the other hand, DynaColor is also improving its production efficiency and management to reduce the total cost of manufacturing. “With the introduction of IP technologies, what we are facing now is a shorter product life cycle. A professional OEM/ODM company needs to do the mass production of a new product very fast and also handle a wide variety of products at the same time. That is why we keep improving our production efficiency,” Yeh emphasized.

Providing Professional Local Services
To provide good services for their OEM/ODM customers all over the world, DynaColor has already established several local offices in China, the U.S., and Japan. Not getting involved in their customers’ sales and marketing activities, in their local offices, DynaColor focuses on providing after-sales services for their clients. “Because a lot of our products need to be integrated with our clients’ systems, we go through a lot of their strict examinations to ensure the compatibility and performance of our products. During the testing stage, we communicate very closely with their technical people to solve all kinds of technical problems,” said Yeh.

One thing different for DynaColor in China is they mainly sell their products to systems integrators. Yeh explained why the company has been able to maintain its stable growth all these years in such a highly competitive market, saying, “Unlike other large OEM/ODM companies, we are quite willing to customize our products. We stay very flexible and able to customize to what is really needed for projects.” DynaColor also has a local factory in China for product assembly.

In addition, since the company needs to ensure their products are ready to use for actual projects in China, their products all have to go through their government’s lab examination and acquire the certification. Right now, especially, the Chinese government’s law enforcement has been getting very strict on their inspection of product quality which also makes DynaColor, who has always emphasized product quality and honesty in doing business, stand out easily, according to Yeh. On the other hand, the China market also nurtures the company a lot to really understand what their customers need in actual projects.

Japan is another market that also explains how much DynaColor emphasizes services and product quality — they have had long-term growth there. It is acknowledged that Japanese customers have a very high and tough standard toward product reliability and quality. "They may even come to our factories and give us advice to improve our quality control. Not only the end results they also focus on how we produce the products to ensure the quality," said Yeh.

These successful experiences with Japanese customers and other multinational brands illustrate how DynaColor differentiates themselves in the market.

Finally, on the US and European customer side, DynaColor has also received much pos i t ive feedback , especially over the past two years. Because Chinese products have caused huge price competition in these local markets, many customers who used to manufacture their own products now are looking for ODM/ OEM partners.

Keep Moving
The company’s future R&D investment will focus on more back-end systems such as NVRs and also H.265-compatible devices. Meanwhile, to fulfill some of their customers’ requirements for integrated systems, the company also plans to develop their VMS software. The future security industry will develop quite fast driven by IoT. DynaColor will maintain flexibility and keep updated with all the latest technologies to embrace all the possibilities in the future.
