The Italian security market is stable according to Massimo Crosetto, an Italy-based security consultant; However, the market remains highly fragmented.

For smaller security companies, the stagnant nature of the Italian market has made business for local companies tough, resulting in the closure and/or acquisition of many small companies.

Crosetto noted that the new technologies take time before Italian users are willing to accept them. For example, the market is still very heavily analog, representing at least 50 percent of installations. Despite this, HD-over-coaxial is only slowly starting to see traction. Reasons for this include a lack of technical power, manpower, and overall knowledge within the local industry.
