When looking for a modern access control system to protect this new research and teaching facility, the Faculty of Medicine chose Dominus Millennium, an Abbas system which is fully integrated with ASSA ABLOY's Aperio® wireless lock technology. The new facility needs the highest standards of security to protect valuable biological material stored inside, and to ensure the safety of its users, scheduled to be 95 staff plus a shifting roster of students.

The Biomedical Center's new doors are fitted with Aperio® E100 and E100 Premium escutcheons, as well as EL160 electric strikes. Each door is connected to the Abbas access control system wirelessly, via 1-to-8 Hubs, which allow up to 8 separate devices to communicate wirelessly with the system.

Staff and students gain access to permitted areas via smart cards equipped with MIFARE RFID technology.

“Our new institute was searching for an access control system solution which would underpin our philosophy, focused on the future and modern technologies,” says Roman Paveza, Head of the Centre of Information Technologies. “Aperio® from ASSA ABLOY provided a modern solution and a high level of security for a reasonable price”
