Modern hotels require modern security hardware, so the project for providing video surveillance at the new premium-class hotel began when the building was still under construction. The integrator was faced with the task of building a reliable video surveillance system that could not only perform the required security functions, but also harmoniously blend in with the hotel's luxurious interior.
Solution
In order to solve this task, specialists from the integrator, Tekhnika Dlia Biznesu (Equipment for business) LTD, carefully analyzed the options available on the market and selected indoor and outdoor Axis fixed cameras: AXIS P1344-E, AXIS M1114, and AXIS P3343. The main points in favor of this solution were the equipment's high quality and wide range of functions. Another important factor was the excellent compatibility of Axis cameras with equipment and software from other manufacturers, since the video stream is managed using Milestone software, and HP servers were chosen to record the archive.
Result
The outcome of the project was a modern, reliable, trouble-free video surveillance system that ensures round-the-clock security for Nobilis Hotel's guests, employees and property. All cameras support HDTV mode, which allows the hotel security service to clearly identify individuals both inside the hotel and in the surrounding area. The clarity of the picture sent from Axis network cameras makes work much easier for the security personnel watching the monitors.
Nobilis is Lviv's only premium-class hotel, and is the benchmark of luxury and elegance. Opened in late 2011, Nobilis harmoniously blends into the architecture of the city's downtown. A refined interior and outstanding service make Nobilis the perfect place for both vacation and various top-level business events. Despite its “youth” the hotel has already won several awards. In the fall of 2012, Nobilis won first place in the “Best Small Hotel in Ukraine” category at the International Hotel Awards. Nobilis is on the list of the hundred best hotels in Ukraine, a partner in the Five Star Alliance, and a leader at Booking.com among Lviv hotels. Owing to its unique architecture with hand-painted murals and musical clock with life-sized figurines, Nobilis is a stop on sightseeing tours as a city landmark.

Security functions
On the one hand, guests and business visitors at hotels of this caliber are generally people for whom personal safety is a very high priority. On the other hand, conferences and other business events attract a large number of people. Therefore, the video surveillance system must record the occurrence of any event or incident, and also allow security personnel and law enforcement officials to see all activity down to the finest detail. Consequently, security cameras must have high image resolution and the ability to identify the participants in an incident.
These requirements are met today by megapixel IP cameras that record in HD quality. Failure of even one security camera weakens site security, which is why high equipment reliability and real-time manufacturer technical support were important requirements for the cameras.
Both the security equipment market and the hotel business are developing rapidly; therefore, despite the fact that the video surveillance project for Nobilis Hotel has been fully completed, options for future system upgrades and expansion must be considered.

Axis network cameras meet all of the project requirements. The HD image ensures high resolution. Support for the ONVIF industry protocol allows the cameras to be integrated with a wide spectrum of equipment from other manufacturers, increasing Axis equipment compatibility in integrated security systems.
